Report Writer (54210154)
 
Contract Duration: (6 months)
Location: Toronto, ON
 
The Report Writer will analyze, provide specifications for, and write individual reports for the applications to which they are assigned.  They will work closely with Application Specialists, clinical and other teams to gather and analyze information and specifications regarding reporting requirements, and to develop reports based on decisions taken.  The Report Writer will test the report build at various stages throughout the implementation and create and maintain reporting related documentation that will support the use of the system.  
 
This position is available for contact and contract-hire opportunities.
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Reviewing Foundation System reports and identifying advanced analytics needs of the user community
• Meeting with Application Specialists and requestors to understand their data needs
• Creating design specifications for new reports
• Identifying and reviewing the appropriate technological solutions for various reporting needs
• Creating new reports, using a third-party report writing tool such as Crystal reports, to display Clarity Data
• Modifying existing reports, as necessary
• Distributing Clarity reports to report requestors using  integration
• Reviewing peer reports for validity
• Testing report build in a specified testing environment, and volume testing in live environments
• Reviewing upgrade documentation related to Clarity features and released Crystal reporting content, and determining how to implement the changes
• Business intelligence developers might also be responsible for building:
o Universes/Cubes
o Extracts
o SlicerDicer
o Third-party tools (Xcelsius/WebI/QlikView/Explorer)
o Reports to query Cogito Star
 
Required Qualifications/Experience
 
• A degree in computer sciences/engineering/information systems or other related field or equivalent work experience
• 3 to 5 years of experience with report writing, or business intelligence design and development
• Previous project/systems implementation experience
• Experience in a health-care environment – basic understanding of clinical workflows and terminology preferred
• Proficiency with SQL and relational database concepts
• Proficiency and demonstrated experience with report writing tools
• The ability to gain an in-depth understanding of the data model through data model classes
• The ability to determine data structures that benefit the entire reporting environment
• The ability to probe for information about the underlying needs of the organization and user community, which directly influences the design and build of the reports
• The ability to lead meetings, prioritize, resolve conflicts and maintain issues lists
• Strong communication skills
• Critical thinking and analytical skills
• Strong organizational skills
• The ability to communicate effectively with project leadership and subject matter experts
• The ability and interest to learn the software and increase their knowledge over time
• Eagerness to learn the system and promote it within the organization
• Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
• Strong problem solving and analytical skills, excellent communication skills, the ability to work equally well as a member of a team or alone to carry out project activities, resilience, and creativity are essential
• Innovative, results and detail oriented
