Modis, on behalf of our client is looking for a Technical Writer
 
Technical Writer (58198404)
 
Contract Duration: (6 months)
Location: Toronto, ON
 
Responsibilities:
 
• Create and implement documentation plan to schedule project deliverables and timelines
• Responsible for the usability and perfection of the text and the timely completion of each communication piece in project/assignment
• Ensure requirements are coordinated into final document according to client expectations
• Ensure final documentation meets stakeholder requirements
• Monitors project for delays and resolves issues as they arise
• Provide support for each phases of document creation
• Assist with scheduling and coordinating the work efforts of a technical writing team
• Review published materials and recommend revisions or changes in scope, format, content and methods of reproduction and binding
• Provide recommendations to client on ways to improve technical documents based on evaluations
• Oversee audit of existing documentation in accordance with internal audit requirements or as a result of organizational or infrastructure changes
• Train others on internal knowledge-sharing processes to ensure delivery of requested information at the right time. Develop new processes as needed
• Train others on the business's current technology and infrastructure and keep current on knowledge sharing methods, tools and techniques
• Provide feedback and instruct others in writing styles
 
Required Qualifications/Experience
 
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Journalism, Business or related field
• Certification in Technical or Business Writing - would be an asset
• 7+ years technical/business writing experience
• Knowledge of all aspects of the all phases of the documentation process and the services to deliver final documentation products
• Project management skills with expert time management and organizational skills to manage multiple projects with competing deadlines
• General management skills to lead service delivery requirements and coach team members, as required
• Expert editing and reviewing skills to ensure final product meets client expectations
• Expert writing skills that clarify and communicate instructions or procedures
• Expert knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar
• Expert documentation skills
• Knowledge of communication and dissemination techniques and methods - would be an asset
• Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques and roles and responsibilities in providing technical or business guidance to clients within and outside own area
• Strong knowledge of and ability to utilize knowledge capture processes in response to business requirements
• Quick study with advanced ability to learn new techniques and software to support the client, as required
