Position/Title: Release Coordinator

The Position: Release Coordinator

  • Collaborate on release content and effort to ensure they are correctly recorded, categorized and scheduled
  • Communicate release details, deployment plan, and schedules with all stakeholders
  • Ensure integrity of a release package and its components are maintained throughout the transition activities
  • Provide & distribute release schedule to facilitate release planning, alignment & change window collision avoidance
  • Produce and communicate release metrics & reporting
  • Understand and implement release management best practices and standards
  • Forward Plan the release windows and cycles across applications
  • Manage risks and resolves issues that affect release scope, schedule and quality
  • Negotiate, plan, and manage all release activities
  • Measure and monitor progress to ensure application releases are delivered on time and that they meet or exceed expectations
  • Manage relationships and coordinate work between different teams
  • Conduct Release Readiness reviews, Milestone Reviews, and Production Readiness reviews
  • Work with technical leads, developers to understand impacts of branches and code merges
  • Maintain the release schedule for all core services and ensure alignment across key business partners
  • Lead and co-ordinate the Go-Live activities including the execution of the deployment Plans and checklists.
  • Utilize automation tools used to build, integrate, and deploy software releases to various platforms
  • Participate in Change Control meetings to discuss release scope and/or roadblocks
  • Maintain a release repository and manage key information such as build and release procedures, dependencies, and notification lists
  • Researches new software development and configuration management methodologies and technologies and analyzes their application to current configuration management needs
  • Champion Release Management process and represent Release Management to all stakeholders
  • Continued gap analysis and process improvement of all the coordination and execution processes
  • Frequent engagement with the deployment teams to ensure successful execution of all changes
  • Develop the project delivery schedule, which includes identification and logical sequencing of activities needed to complete deliverables and to identify critical path when required
  • Ensure a thorough post implementation review is conducted
  • Manage process compliance and contribute to team process improvement activities by maintaining, regularly reviewing and adding to the body of Release Management supporting documentation and toolset
  • Manage ad hoc requests for emergency release, configuration changes, and patches as part of the request fulfillment process

Required Skills, Experience, and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • 8-10 years of experience in information systems operations environment
  • Experience of Change and Release Management procedures and procedures
  • Proven project coordination skills in a technical environment
  • ITIL Certification or knowledge of the lifecycle processes and ITSM
  • Proficient in MS Project and Excel
  • Excellent organization and communication skills
  • Experience of leading effective meetings to reach objectives and goals
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate cross-functional work teams toward task completion
  • Demonstrated effective leadership and analytical skills
  • Proven customer facing experience
  • Knowledgeable with DevOps concepts, tools, and techniques
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies
  • Self-Starter with good personal initiative
  • Exposure to release management and deployment tools
