Modis, on behalf of our client is looking for an Interaction Designer/Visual Designer
Interaction Designer/Visual Designer (61530081)
Contract Duration: (6 months)
Location: Toronto, ON
• Employ user-centered design principles and techniques to optimize the client experience for new and existing client products and features
• Work closely with analysts, sponsors, managers and IT teams to understand business requirements
• Develop user journeys, sitemaps, wireframes, prototypes and visual designs to effectively communicate interaction and design solutions
• Collect and analyze user behaviour by planning, executing, and reporting on various research and testing methods (ethnographic studies, card sorting, usability testing, A/B testing,
• Challenge assumptions and guesses with methods that collect hard evidence for decision-making, effectively rationalize solutions against rigorous testing and research
• Participate in design review sessions with project teams, synthesize feedback, defend  the “right” solution, gain consensus and approvals on all design deliverables
• Gauge the usability of new and existing products and making constructive suggestions for iterative improvements; collaborate with core team to create world-class experiences
• Shape interaction patterns and a look and feel that’s consistent, AA accessible and instantly recognizable
• Design, polish and continually refine the client’s consumer-facing products by constantly applying your exceptional eye for detail and passion for quality
• Build a strong rapport with team all product stakeholders, impressing with your enthusiasm and understanding of business requirement and customer needs
• Provide quality assurance on all technical and creative deliverables
• Liaise with development, QA, Product Managers and design and business partners
Required Qualifications/Experience
• Portfolio that includes web and/or mobile design samples
• Experience with Agile process and responsive design
• BA/BS/MA/MS degree in Design (e.g. interaction, graphic, visual communications, product, industrial), Human Computer Interaction (HCI), Computer Science (CS), or a related field or equivalent practical experience
• 5 years of experience in designing usable interfaces across multiple channels and platforms
• 5 years of experience in an applied research setting including experience integrating user research into product designs and design practices
• Strong understanding of strengths and shortcomings of different research methods, including when and how to apply them during each product phase
• Solid knowledge of design, prototyping and research tools (Adobe Photoshop and/or Sketch, Illustrator, Axure RP, InVision, Morae, and presentation software) and design principles (typography, responsive grid systems, visual hierarchy, colour, padding, etc.)
• Facility with design systems, standards and frameworks
• Ability to prioritize and manage workload and multiple work streams to meet critical project milestones and deadlines
• Ownership of the design process, proven ability to communicate solutions and rationale while drawing on a user-centered design process
• Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills and the ability to forge sound working relationships
