The Global Cloud Compute Architect will be accountable for providing expert advice and strategic cloud compute direction on the building of key services, applications, and solutions that will support exciting new initiatives and to ensure alignment with Global Enterprise Architecture direction.
The Global Cloud Compute Architect helps with designing, managing and implementing cloud compute services by providing technical cloud compute expertise globally for all internal clients. The architect will also provide guidance on cloud compute designs and conduct regular performance and optimization assessments.
Major Job Functions:
•Architecting and designing information technology cloud compute solutions in a large global enterprise environment (30%).
•Oversee or consult on technology implementation projects, particularly for new or shared cloud compute solutions. Consult on application or cloud compute development projects to harmonize systems or cloud compute with the current and proposed Cloud Compute Architecture. Identify when it is necessary to modify the Cloud Compute Architecture to accommodate immediate or future project needs (30%).
•Oversee and facilitate the research, evaluation and selection of hardware and software technology and product standards, as well as the design of standard configurations (15%).
•Understand, advocate and augment the business and IT strategies — and, more specifically, the Cloud Compute Architecture development and service delivery (10%).
•Participate and lead design sessions with company personnel as well as external parties (15%)
•Understanding of key Architecture principles such as requirements, conceptual, logical and physical architectures. As well as experience in the use of guiding principles and governance frameworks.
•In depth understanding of cloud compute principles, including but not limited to; cloud platforms such as Azure / AWS / Salesforce, backup, disaster recovery, Windows and / or Red Hat operating systems, storage platforms such as NetApp / EMC / StorSimple, server hardening, database technologies such as SQL / Oracle, application delivery technologies such as Citrix / VMware and Server Virtualization technologies such as VMware / Hyper-V / Red Hat.
•Be familiar with products and solutions from vendors such as, but not limited to, Cisco, Palo Alto, Dell EMC, NetApp, Microsoft, AWS, F5, Citrix, VMware, Symantec, AT&T, CSC, Telefonica, Entel, Telus and British Telecom
•Broad knowledge across all areas of the Technology Architecture domain including Cloud Computing (IaaS, PaaS, AWS, Azure etc.) Data Center, Data Storage Technologies, Virtualization, Server platforms (Unix/Linux, Windows, AS400), Desktop, Mobility solutions, systems monitoring/management, data protection, high availability/clustering, cloud compute (network, compute, storage, etc.),
•Experience architecting Cloud compute solutions to support enterprise class applications (such as ERP and CRM).
Education & Experience:
•Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or Business Technology or similar.
•Professional certifications or equivalent experience from relevant vendors such as VMware, Microsoft Azure or AWS.
•10 years or more experience working in an enterprise cloud compute environment.
•5 years or more architecting solutions, across 2 or more technical disciplines, within an enterprise organization.
