Our client is looking for a motivated, experienced, infrastructure developer to help build and scale a suite of mobile & web applications. They need a senior ops person who exhibits attention to detail and thrives in a fast moving environment.
They're ever-expanding portfolio of applications depend on stable, scalable and performant infrastructure to keep them humming.
They need someone who:
•Gets excited about designing and implementing reliable, fault-tolerant systems.
•Demonstrates excellent problem solving with a desire to dig in when facing a   challenge, the moment it strikes.
•Enjoys incorporating operations best practices (Automation, Repeatability, Security, Recoverability).
•Comfortable working in the modern cloud (AWS and Heroku are our current platforms)
Our client needs a DevOps engineer with strong Amazon Web Services experience. You will create cloud formation templates to build AWS services that support they're custom Ruby On Rails applications. You’ll need to build the whole stack ELBs to databases, and then move and launch our site at its new home. And you’ll need to help guide them through this process in a pretty short outage window.
In this role, you’ll work collaboratively with software engineering to deploy and operate they're systems. Help automate and streamline they're operations and processes. Build and maintain tools for deployment, monitoring and operations. And troubleshoot and resolve issues in the dev, test and production environments.
As a hybrid product/agency company, they research, develop and bring to market software products & tools for ourselves and external clients. They already have several active, marketed products and are currently working with a number of great organizations, including Hockey Canada, to develop new products, and improve the existing suite.
Skills & Requirements:
•Strong background in Linux/Unix Administration
•Experience with automation/configuration management using either Ansible, Chef or an equivalent
•Ability to use a wide variety of open source technologies and cloud services (experience with AWS is required, CodeDeploy a big plus)
•A working understanding of code and script (Ruby, Javascript, Elixir/Erlang a plus)
•Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
•Experience creating developer tooling and improving process over time.
•Knowledge of application server tuning, web application bottlenecks and database tier optimizations.
•Great oral and written communication skills
